El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 10 people all believed to be connected to a series of identity theft cases that goes back to the summer and includes 69 victims.
According to deputies, county residents began reporting their mail was being stolen from their mailboxes three months ago. Residents then noticed they had become victims of identity theft when a number of counterfeit checks were passed at a local business.
Those arrested included 4 men and 6 women ranging in age from 24 to 51. They will face federal charges as the thefts involved mail.
